The cold and flu season has arrived! We can’t keep everyone from getting sick, but we sure can try!
1.) Wash your hands!! Before you eat, after you eat, when you use the restroom, after PE, after you sneeze, anytime you can.
2.) If you cough or sneeze, use your sleeve. (The students can demonstrate this for you;)
3.) Respect personal space. Keep a little distance between you and your friends, and you and your teachers.
4.)
Only visit the nurse for things that cannot be taken care of in the
classroom. All of the sick students are in the clinic….It is not the
place to be if you want to stay healthy. Teachers have band aids for
little cuts and scrapes.
5.) Wear weather appropriate clothing. If there is snow on the ground, you should have pants and a jacket.
Please
assess your students in the morning. If they are feeling pretty bad,
and you want to keep them home, that is an appropriate decision. If they
have a fever over 100.0, you are required by the GCISD policy to keep
them home. They must be fever free for 24 hours without any medication
before returning to school. Also, if they vomit, they must be vomit free
for 24 hours without any medication before returning to school.
If
your child is staying home from school, please call the front office to
let us know. We will probably ask a few questions, as we track
illnesses for the Tarrant County Public Health Department who reports
the findings to the state.
Did
you know? Vaccines are for all of us - from babies to older adults. The
month of August has been designated as the National Immunization
Awareness Month.
